International Meeting 2010
How can we satisfy future energy needs but still protect our climate? GeoEn meets this challenge with forward-looking and exciting research themes.
The International Meeting will provide a great opportunity to discuss the state of the art in geoenergy research. Results from the unconventional resource Shale Gas, geothermal energy and ways to prevent carbon dioxide emissions by CCS-technology will be presented for the first time since the launch of the GeoEn-project in 2008. GeoEn integrates various scientific and engineering research disciplines. Synergies will receive pride of place at the meeting.
Keynote speakers already confirmed are Jan-Diederik van Wees (TNO, Netherlands) for geothermal technologies, Paolo Smith Schneider (UFRGS, Brasil) for CCS, Ursula Hammes (Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG)
, USA) for shale gas potentials, Phil Wannamaker (University of Utah, USA) for reservoir explorationa an expoitation and Sven Bode (Arrhenius, Germany) on economic aspects of CCS and renewable energies.
Furthermore, we invite all undergraduate and graduate students to join the GeoEn Summer School and to dig deeper into geoenergy. Tutorials and exhibits will balance the theory provided. Social events will help to expand your network in an atmosphere designed for a new generation of geoscientists.
